About Bhadrachalam Temple:
Bhadrachalam Temple is commonly known as Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Temple. Temple is located in Bhadrachalam of Bhadradri-Kothagudem District. In addition to Lord Sree Rama temple, there are other temples like Parnasala, Sri Rama Giri, Jattayu Paaka, Dummugudem and Gundala.
History of the Temple:
Sree Rama appeared in the dreams of his devotee Pokala Dhammakka and said about the idols of Rama, Sita and Laxmana in Bhadragiri. Dhammakka recovered the idols from the anthill and constructed a bamboo temple and performed pooja. Bhagawan Rama told Dhammakka that one of his devotees would construct a temple. The devotee turned out to be Bhakta Ramadas.
Kancharla Gopanna a fervent devotee of Rama was born to Linganna Murthy and Kamamba. He was the nephew of Akkanna, the administrative head in the court of Nawab Abdul Hasan Shah known as Taneshah of Golconda. Gopanna was appointed as Tahsildar of Palvancha Paragana. Once Gopanna heard about the Jatara at Bhadrachalam, he became curious and he too visited the Jatara. There he found the Idols where Dhammakka found in the anthill and so he wanted to construct the temple. Gopanna constructed the temple from the land revenue of 6 Lakhs without the permission of the Nizam Nawab. After constructing the temple Gopanna called Bhakta Ramadas.
After constructing the temple, the actual miseries started for Ramadas. He was dismissed from service for misutilisation of revenue for constructing the temple and was put in jail for 12 long years. One day at late night Rama and Laxmana approached Nawab and paid 6 Lakh Mohurs exposing them as Ramoji and Laxmoji, the servants of Bhakta Ramadas. After that, the Nawab realized that Rama and Laxmana were who came and paid and released Ramadas from jail.
